San Francisco stalwart designer Benny Gold has been one of streetwear’s better kept secrets until recent years, with his eponymous brand’s tirelessly youthful designs drawing attention from the privy. Gold himself seems more fit for napkin doodles and layered notebooks than the whole gallery setting, but perhaps its that exact attribute that makes the brand so endearing. In his most recent collaboration with Red Wing and Jansport, Gold sought to unearth classic, lasting brand aesthetics from his own childhood – and if the final product is any indication, seems the best man to have done so. Here we find Gold detailing his creative process on the recent project as San Francisco celebrated the pack release, detailing his personal approach while also giving a humble nod to the one and only HUF.
