If for some reason you missed Germany’s stunning 7-1 drubbing of Brazil in yesterday’s World Cup semifinal, then you likely saw countless reactions to the Seleção‘s implosion via social media. In fact, the game was the single most-discussed sporting event in the history of Twitter: the platform revealed that the match saw 35.6 million Tweets as users aired their 140-character reactions as the Germans continued to pile on the goals. For comparison, the previous high for Tweets-per-match during the World Cup was 16.4 million during Brazil’s match against Chile while Super Bowl XLVIII garnered around 25 million.
