Having spent six months in Hong Kong I managed to travel and explore a total of 9 countries:
Hong Kong
Macau
Thailand
South Korea
Vietnam
Taiwan
Mainland China
Japan
Cambodia
Without a doubt, using Hong Kong as a travel hub is highly recommended - most major airlines use the Hong Kong International Airport as a port of travel so outbound flights are quite cheap.
I think the most independent and exciting travels I took was backpacking from Thailand into Cambodia and traveling around Japan.
If you want to know more let me know.
Also, what do you think is the best way to travel around other countries. I know for Australia (My Country) it would be by 4wd around the coast and into the center to visit Ayers Rock.
And for India it would be by train (not in 1st class, travel 2nd or coach for a true Indian experience).
What about:
Canada
North America
South America
Middle East
Europe
Africa
South Africa
Hong Kong
Macau
Thailand
South Korea
Vietnam
Taiwan
Mainland China
Japan
Cambodia
