I just found out that my uncle passed away on Monday, and it hit me really hard. Even though he lived on the other side of the country in North Carolina, he was my favorite.
He was so happy all the time; so carefree with his big belly and bald head; his deep Southern accent and feen for Ritz crackers.

I'm happy that he is pain free now. He had been in and out of the hospital for the past few years, and was finally hospitalized for good.

I will always love him dearly.

He would want me to stop crying, and to be happy that his big butt wouldnt be there to eat all of the apple turnovers, but how do I cope?

I had a hard time last year too. My grandmother passed away on November 21st.. which is exactly on my birthday. What made me feel very sad is that she'd been in and out hospital for months but i only gave her a few visit. I always thought i was busy and actually i'm not that busy though. In that time i realize how guilty i was and still am... i could have done anything and see her more and that i should but i didn't.

I didn't cried along the 5 days of funeral but only on the last day that we buried her, it was like i'll never see her again, it feel real hurt deep inside.

After that i always remind myself to do everything i should and have to do. Never let the time pass by just floating and hesitating, for you never know what will come in the next seconds

I'm sorry for your loss.

It hurts a lot, and all you can do is cry.

My mum told me that if I want his spirit to be freed from the physical earth, then I must stop crying.

i think its alright for you to be sad and cry about it. i mean if your sad cry; if you happy smile, right? act how you feel and after a while you'll begin to not be so tender about it knowing how he lived was the way he liked (im guessing) so don't feel too sad for too long, you should be fine in a while, just don't forget about him and let him live on in memory as im sure he wanted to be.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. ~Kahlil Gibran

Hey Rachel,

This must be very tough for you; however, bare in mind that he is at a better place.

Cherish the good times you have, and never forget them.

He's there right beside you.

I hope you feel better. I'd offer my point of view, but it's pretty blunt.
